Project Overview

Liverty is a not-for-profit organisation that enables Australians with disability to live more independently by offering tailored housing solutions. It connects eligible individuals with homes that suit their specific physical and cognitive accessibility needs, whether that means wheelchair-friendly spaces, sensory-optimised layouts or supportive shared living arrangements. The team at Liverty plays a pivotal role not only for tenants but also for the support workers who assist them in navigating the complex housing system.

Marameo Design was introduced to Liverty through a recommendation from another client, and quickly identified the scope and potential of this transformative digital project. With only a basic Elementor site in place that was no longer functioning effectively, Liverty needed a robust platform built from the ground up one that could manage properties, streamline support coordination and communicate its mission with warmth, clarity and professionalism.

Key challenges

As a growing organisation, Liverty faced several critical challenges with its existing digital presence:

  • An outdated Elementor-based website that was broken and no longer served users effectively
  • Multiple distinct user groups, including individuals with disability and their support workers, needed to be addressed with clarity and empathy
  • Complex service offerings under the NDIS framework had to be communicated in a simple, accessible and actionable way
  • Managing property listings internally required a solution that non-technical staff could use with ease and confidence
  • Operational efficiency depended on reliable integration with Microsoft Dynamics to streamline application workflows and data capture
  • Strict accessibility requirements were essential to ensure the platform could serve all users, regardless of ability

These challenges demanded a strategic, user-centred design approach grounded in clarity, flexibility and performance.

Our Approach

At Marameo, we approached the Liverty project with a user-first mindset, combining thoughtful strategy, technical precision and accessible design to build a platform that truly empowers.

Key Strategies

To ensure the platform delivered real-world impact and long-term value, we focused on five strategic pillars:

  1. Audience empathy
Designing for multiple user personas, including people with various disabilities, their families and their support workers. Every decision was shaped by the lived realities of these individuals.
  2. Modular design system
We created a fully custom Gutenberg blocks that empowers the Liverty team to manage and evolve the site independently. This ensures long-term sustainability without constant developer support.
  3. Performance-first development
Optimising every aspect of the site, from imagery to backend architecture, to ensure fast load times, strong SEO foundations and excellent device compatibility.
  4. Accessibility compliance
Prioritising WCAG 2.1 compliance throughout the UX and development process. This included high-contrast colour schemes, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility and intuitive layouts.
  5. Microsoft dynamics integration
Embedding dynamic, scalable forms that communicate directly with Liverty’s internal CRM. This reduces admin overhead and enables quicker, more reliable service delivery.

The solution

Discovery & strategy
The project began with a discovery workshop where Marameo and Liverty mapped key user personas, journeys and needs. A key insight was the importance of designing for different emotional states, from people navigating sudden life changes to long-term NDIS participants.

This shaped the tone and structure of the site, with intuitive navigation, high-contrast visuals and messaging that reassures and empowers users.

A modular, editor-friendly block system
Liverty’s site uses one of Marameo’s most advanced block systems to date. It offers a flexible library of reusable, accessible content blocks, many with complex layouts, that allow the team to build and update pages independently.

The design pushed technical boundaries and required careful planning around responsiveness, accessibility and performance.

Dynamic property listings
A custom property listing system allows Liverty to manage and publish housing options in real time. Listings include images, accessibility features and eligibility information in an easy-to-scan format for tenants and support coordinators.

The backend is intuitive and low maintenance, enabling non-technical staff to manage listings confidently.

Integration with Microsoft Dynamics
All forms on the site, including housing applications and contact forms, are fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics. This ensures that user data flows securely and efficiently into the organisation’s internal systems, reducing manual handling and allowing for quicker response times. The integration supports Liverty’s long-term growth strategy by streamlining operations and enabling better tracking of user engagement and enquiries.
